GRADING STUDENT PERFORMANCE

Academic Grades:

Grades in all subjects are based on the student’s degree of mastery of the instructional objectives and competencies for the subject and bringing ALL materials needed for class.  

  A grade of “A” indicates that the student has demonstrated outstanding progress in the subject performs academically at a level which is considerably higher than that of the typical student in the same program or course.  

El grado “A” indica que el alumno ha demonstrado sobresaliente progreso en la materia y/o área de destreza.  El alumno constantemente trabaja en un nivel considerablemente más alto que  cualquier otro alumno en el mismo programa.

  A grade of “B” indicates that the student has demonstrated above average but no outstanding progress in the academic area.  The student consistently performs at a level above that which is expected of the typical student in the same program or subject.  

El grado “B” indica que el alumno ha demonstrado sobresaliente progreso en la materia y/o área de destreza.  El alumno constantemente trabaja a un nivel más alto que de cualquier otro alumno en el mismo programa.

  A grade of “C” indicates average progress.  The student performs at an average level in terms of mastery of skills/performance standards and/or content of the program.  

El grado “C” indica progreso promedio.  El alumno trabaja al mismo nivel que cualquira otro alumno en el mismo programa.

  A grade of “D “indicates the lowest acceptable progress in the mastery of skills and other course content and indicates that improvement is needed to achieve a satisfactory level of academic performance. 

El grado “D “indica que el nivel mas bajo aceptable en el maesterio de las estrategias y de otros contenidos - también indica que es necessario mejorar para adquirir un nivel satisfactorio academico.

  A grade of “F” indicates failure.  Students functioning at this level are not mastering the minimal objectives. 

El grado “F “indica que el alumno no está funcionando a este nivel y no está maestrando las estrategias minimas e o objectivos.

Kindergarten:

  E = Excellent Progress  This indicates that in the teacher’s judgment the student has demonstrated mastery of instructional objectives appropriate for the kindergarten program. 

Esto indica que la maestro cree quel el estudiante demuestra maestría en los objetos de instrucción apropiados para el programa de kindergarten.

  S = Satisfactory Progress  This indicates that the student has made satisfactory progress in mastering instructional objectives appropriate for the kindergarten program..  

Esto indica que la maestra cree que el estudiante demuestra progreso satisfactorio en los objetos de instrucción apropiados para el programa de kindergarten.

  N = Needs Additional Reinforcement  This indicates that in the teacher’s judgment improvement is needed.  The kindergarten student has not mastered instructional objectives at an appropriate rate.  

Esto indica que la maestra cree que el estudiante necesita mejorar los objetos de instrucción apropiados para el programa de kindergarten.

Conduct implies the degree to which a student relates to others in socially acceptable ways; EFFORT implies the degree to which pupils have demonstrated a desire to learn or to engage in learning tasks which should lead to a mastery of educational goals.  This includes bringing materials to class.

Conducta implica el grado en el cual el alumno se relaciona con otros socialmente.  ESFUERZO implica el grado en cual el alumno demuestra el deseo de aprender y participar en trabajos de aprendizaje eventualmente llegará a desarollar la destreza educacional.  Esto incluye traer los materiales a la clase.

BEHAVIOR:

A - This reflects excellent behavior on the part of the student.

      Demuestra comportamiento excelente departe del alumno.

B - This reflects consistently good behavior.

      Demuestra buen comportamiento.

C - This reflects satisfactory behavior.

     Demuestra comportamiento satifactorio.

D - This grade shows that improvement is needed in the student’s overall behavior.

      Esta calificacion demuestra que el alumno nesesita mejorar su comportamiento.

F - This reflects unsatisfactory behavior overall.

                      Demuestra comportamiento insaifactorio.

EFFORT:

1 - This indicates outstanding effort on the part of the student.

      Demuestra esfuerso sobresaliente.

2 - This indicates satisfactory effort on the part of the student.  All work is approached with an appropriate degree of seriousness.  This student usually finishes assignments on timely and usually stays on task.

       Demuestra esfuerzo satifactorio de parte de el alumno. El alumno casi siempre termina las tareas a tiempo y se mantiene la faena.

3 - This indicates insufficient effort on the part of the student.  Little attention is paid to completing assignments well and/or on time or to completing them in a manner commensurate with the student’s ability.

       Esto indica esfuerzo insuficiente departe del alumno.  Poca atención es prestada en terminar las tareas bien y entregarlas a tiempo o en una manera proporcionada con la abilidad del alumno. 

In grades 1-12, when calculating the grade in a marking period or for a semester or annual course, the following grade point averages are to be used:

Cuando calculando los grados en un periodo o por un semester o anual, los siguiente averages deben de ser usados ;

A = 3.50 and above
B = 2.50 - 3.49
C = 1.50 - 2.49
D = 1.00 - 1.49

&             Homework assignments are given every week except those weeks in which the school has an exam, there is a special event going on, or there is a four day week. 

&             Las tareas serán dadas semanalmente, excepto las semanas que tenga el colegio un exámen o evento especial o cuando haya cuatro o menos días en la semana.

&             It is very important that your child finish the class work that is assigned.  This will better prepare them for their homework and give them the material that will be covered on the weekly exam.  Please sign the homework every week.

&             Es muy importante terminar los trabajos en la clase.  Esto los va a preparer para la tarea y el exámen.  Por favor firme siempre las tareas.

Rules/Reglamentos:

1.  We will follow directions the first time they are given. / Seguiremos las instrucciones la primera vez que sean dadas.

2.  We will stay in our seat. / Nos mantendremos sentado en nuestros asientos.

3.  We will bring our materials to class. / Traeremos los materiales a la clase.

4.  We will be prepared for class. / Estaremos preparado para la clase.

5.  We will raise our hand to speak. / Levantaremos la mano para hablar.

6.  We will keep hands, feet and objects to our self. / Mantendremos las manos, pies y /o otros objetos a si mismo.

7.  We will line up quietly. / Nos pondremos en fila en silencio.

Consequences/ Consecuencias:

• Verbal Warning/ advertencia verbal

• Phone or note home/ Llamar a los padres o mandar una nota a la casa.

• Severe disruptions will be taken to the office./ En casos severos llevar a la oficina

Rewards/ Premios:

•  Verbal Praise/ Felicitar verbalmente

• Give out stickers/ Regalar sellos

• Positive People Points (PPP) / Puntos positivos
